Sue is a very senior member of the organisation, her primary responsibilities relate to performance improvement. She is under pressure to not only reduce costs by 3% in order to improve profitability, but at the same time to improve customer satisfaction and product quality.

John is the Quality Manager for the organisation. John was responsible for introducing the quality management system 15 years ago. John takes care of the day to day management of the organisation's procedures, its processes and its management systems. This includes health and safety, environment, and quality management. John wants to bring the current quality management system to life and to improve its interface so that it is much easier for people to find the information that they need. This should not only encourage people to use it, but also help with ISO compliance.

Working alongside John is Liam, Liam is a Business Analyst. Liam is responsible on a day-to-day basis for diagnosing and correcting inefficiencies within the organisation. In essence Liam is tasked with ensuring that Sue achieves her major strategic objectives.

Julie is the manager of the Finance department. Julie is responsible for the efficient running of the Finance department. Julie needs her staff to do their work as efficiently as possible. She is also tasked with procuring a new personnel and payroll system to replace the current one, and she wants to ensure that the new system fits the organisation, not the other way round!

Working alongside Julie is Tim. Tim works in the Finance department. Tim needs to understand the finance processes in order to work according to best practice. Tim is also responsible for updating the processes and procedure documentation in the Finance department.
